Environment
Only thanks to this wonderful planet does Piz Sardona get its pure taste and balanced mineralisation.
Returnable glass
Our Vichy bottles in fine glass are returnable: they are cleaned, refilled and used again and again.
Our own solar power
A photovoltaic array covers the roof of the filling plant in Mels — we produce with our own solar power.
Climate action
Together with ClimatePartner Switzerland, we are committed to fighting climate change and fostering a healthier environment.
Careful production
We invest in regular training for our team and keep questioning, together, how our production processes can be optimised.

Returnable
The bottle’s cycle
Every glass Vichy bottle is designed to make many trips: returned bottles are cleaned, inspected and refilled in Mels, again and again. Only when a bottle is finally retired does it go for glass recycling, because glass can be melted down repeatedly without losing quality.
The 50-centilitre PET bottle can stay in circulation too: after use it belongs in the Swiss PET recycling collection.
About the bottle
Short routes
From Mels, for Switzerland
Spring, bottling and company headquarters share one location: Mels in the Sarganserland. From there, Piz Sardona reaches Swiss beverage retailers and the restaurant trade — no overseas transport, no long import routes. The distance from mountain to glass stays short.
About the companyFrequently asked questions
Are the glass bottles really returnable?
Yes. The Vichy bottles of 25, 40 and 75 centilitres are returnable: they are taken back, cleaned, inspected and refilled in Mels.
What happens to a bottle that is retired?
It goes for glass recycling. Glass can be melted down without losing quality and can become the raw material for new bottles.
How short are the routes really?
Spring, bottling and the headquarters of Mineralquellen Mels AG are all in Mels in the Sarganserland. Piz Sardona is sold through Swiss beverage retailers and the restaurant trade — so there are no long import routes.
Is the PET bottle recyclable?
Yes. After use, the 50-centilitre bottle belongs in the Swiss PET collection. The larger part of the range — all three glass sizes — is returnable anyway.
What does “careful production” mean in practice?
Mineralquellen Mels AG trains its employees regularly and keeps reviewing its production processes for improvements. On climate action, it works with ClimatePartner Switzerland.
