With a pH of 8.0 at source, Piz Sardona sits in the alkaline range: on its roughly twelve-year journey through the rock of the Sardona Alps, the water takes up hydrogen carbonate, among other minerals. That makes Piz Sardona a naturally alkaline mineral water.

The spring
Twelve years through the rock
Piz Sardona rises from the Castels spring in Mels. Its catchment area lies at over 2,000 metres in the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona; from there the water travels through the rock for about twelve years — time in which it is filtered and takes up its minerals.

Yes. At 4 milligrams of sodium per litre it lies well below the 20-milligram threshold that applies to the indication “suitable for a low-sodium diet”.
